Sheffield Festival of Transport |
|
| The first Sheffield
Festival of Transport was held in Graves Park on 30th June 2002. There were
classes for all types of vehicles from sports cars to buses, motor bikes to
limousines. Despite clashing with the World Cup Final, 8500 people attended the event, and this virtually guarantees that it will become an annual event. Of course not everyone came for the cars. There were bouncy castles slides and other entertainments for the kids. There was a beer tent and food stalls for the adults. Balloon sellers, auto-jumbles and charity stalls competed for our money. Even the weather was being kind. When you wanted that much needed rest you could relax in a deck chair and listen to the competing brass bands. For something completely different Filey Life Boat was on hand for walk-arounds, whilst traction engines competed with the burger stalls in the aromatic contest. Then of course there was the roller coaster simulator ...if only I had not spent so much time in the beer tent and crepe stalls. |
